New Endoscopy Unit, Whakatane Hospital
This project was fast tracked to provided a new endoscopy unit within the main building of the hospital to replace the facilities which were closed due to the operating theatre upgrade.
Campus Development Plan, Whakatane Hospital
This plan comprised undertaking surveys and the preparation of CAD based drawings of the existing main buildings, the preparation a building stock condition reports that included reports by architects, & structural, mechanical and electrical engineers. Considerable consultation was undertaken with staff at all levels to determine their view of future requirements for the hospitals development. A full demographically based study coupled to a trends analysis was undertaken to establish future services demand levels, plus there was a review of related MOH and Board policies for the future. Future accommodation needs were then established and related to capital expenditure possibilities. Considerable consultation was undertaken with staff at all levels to determine their wish list and to prepare data for use in a specialist ‘activity interaction’ computer model. Building stock modifications, new construction and site development options were then proposed. Building layout plans were prepared and costed for upgrading Theatres, A & E, CCU/CSU, Medical Records, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy and Outpatients.
A subsequent study of options for the maintaining of medical records was also undertaken.
Psychiatric Unit Remodelling, Hawkes Bay Health
This project initially involved a complete re-orientation of the ward to provide a new secure/safe, welcoming and culturally acceptable entrance and reception area, improved patient lounges, the conversion of all overnight accommodation to en-suite single rooms, an upgrade of clinical areas and staff amenities, and a new Whanau Room.. Due to two patient suicides just before the project was let the project was cancelled and we were asked to redesign the existing unit to make it ‘safe’ while the board re-thought the overall project brief.

Health Centre for Lakes High School
The school required an upgrade, extension and remodelling of their existing wellness centre to create a new high quality health centre for students that provide for al of the physical and mental health needs. Work involved consultation with school staff and the doctors who serviced the centre and the design of a new facility that added new space to two existing classroom buildings to create a modern, efficient and attractive health centre. APR provided full architectural and engineering services.
